The short answer
First Place SEO's GEO service gets you named in AI answers
First Place SEO's GEO services help UK businesses get named when buyers ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot and Google's AI Overviews who to hire. We make your website easy for AI tools to read and track a fixed set of buyer questions every month. Larger plans also build mentions on the sources AI tools trust.
GEO plans start at £750 a month. It suits service businesses, ecommerce brands and startups that want their GEO and SEO run together, with one monthly report covering both.
GEO explained
What is generative engine optimisation?
Generative engine optimisation (GEO) is the work of making your business the source that AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Google's AI Mode choose when they write an answer. SEO aims for a high place in a list of links, while GEO aims for a mention inside the answer itself. Our guide to SEO vs GEO for UK businesses explains the difference.
GEO sits on top of good SEO. AI tools still need pages they can crawl, read and trust, so the groundwork in what a full SEO campaign includes does much of the lifting. GEO adds what large language models (LLMs) look for: answers written to be quoted, clear facts about you, and mentions on trusted sites.
Why rivals get named
ChatGPT and Gemini name the businesses they can verify
AI tools name the businesses they can check across several sources at once. When ChatGPT or Gemini builds a shortlist, it leans on clear pages, consistent business details, reviews and mentions on other sites that all tell the same story. A business with thin pages or mixed details gives the AI less to work with, so a rival with clearer signals gets the mention.
About 30%
Ofcom found that about 30% of searches show an AI overview.
53%
53% of UK adults say they see these summaries often.
This shortlist now shapes a lot of buying decisions. Many buyers now meet a shortlist before they meet a website.
Our guide on why AI platforms recommend your competitors first sets out the usual causes in more detail.
What you get
What our GEO plans include, month by month
Our GEO plans cover three jobs: keeping your site readable to AI tools, writing pages AI tools can quote, and building mentions on trusted sites. Every plan includes the first two, Growth adds mention building, and Market Leader adds digital PR.
Access for AI crawlers
AI tools send crawlers, which are bots that read websites. Your robots.txt file is a small file that tells those bots which pages they may read, and it should allow Googlebot, Bingbot, OAI-SearchBot and PerplexityBot. OpenAI states that sites "opted out of OAI-SearchBot will not be shown in ChatGPT search answers", although they can still appear as plain links. OpenAI also says search results can take about 24 hours to adjust after a robots.txt update.
Pages AI tools can quote
We rewrite key pages so each important question gets a short, direct answer first. We add schema markup, which is code that labels your business, services and prices so AI tools read them without guessing.
Mentions on trusted sites
AI tools often name a business they see mentioned elsewhere, even with no link back. On Growth and Market Leader plans we build those mentions on the third-party sources AI tools draw from in your niche, with our digital PR service added on Market Leader.

How we measure it
How we measure GEO results across 10 to 40 buyer questions
10 to 40
We measure GEO by running the same set of buyer questions every month and counting how often your business is named. We rerun each question by hand, log whether you are named and which rivals appear, and report your inclusion rate, which is the share of answers that name you.
We back that up with platform data. Since February 2026, Bing Webmaster Tools has offered an AI Performance report in public preview. It shows how often Copilot and Bing's AI summaries cite your pages, and the searches behind those citations.
We also report the visits that arrive from ChatGPT and other AI tools. One client's Google review says we “built custom plugins to capture AI traffic”.
Calls and forms where buyers say they found you through an AI tool are logged too.
You can also check whether your business shows up in ChatGPT yourself first.

Why choose us
We take one client per niche in each area
As a GEO SEO agency, we take one business per niche in each area, so the work we do for you never helps a direct rival. Your competitors in your area stay off our books.
“Communication was clear, everything was completed exactly as promised”
You deal directly with the founder and a dedicated specialist, with no account manager layer in between.
We use Google's Search Console data and the Semrush keyword tool to pick the buyer questions worth tracking, and we report in plain English.
Frequently Asked Questions
GEO agency questions answered before you hire
How long does GEO take to show results?
Early movement can show within four to eight weeks as pages are refined and mentions build. The pace depends on where your site starts. Steady presence across several AI platforms usually builds over three to six months.
Can you guarantee ChatGPT will name my business?
What we commit to is a fixed set of tracked questions, run every month, with every result shown to you. Nobody controls a single AI answer, because the same question can name different businesses on each run. That is why we report your inclusion rate across many answers, a number you can track month by month.
Does blocking GPTBot stop my business appearing in ChatGPT?
Blocking GPTBot tells OpenAI your content should not be used to train its AI models. ChatGPT search relies on a different crawler called OAI-SearchBot, so that is the one to keep open. Both are set in your robots.txt file.
Do I have to sign a long contract?
No. Our GEO plans run month to month, with no long-term contract to sign. If you choose to stop, you give us 60 days' written notice. Your monthly reports show what the work is doing, so the decision always rests on evidence.
Do you cover businesses outside London?
Yes. We cover London, Hertfordshire, Essex, Cambridgeshire, Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire. We also work with clients across the UK remotely, and we can come to you.
A quick first win
The first GEO win is often fixing what AI already says
AI tools repeat the facts they find about your business, including old ones. An out-of-date address on a directory, a service you no longer offer or an old price can all turn up inside an answer. Correcting those details at source, on your own pages, your schema and the main directories, is quick work that changes how AI describes you.
Consistent business details across your pages and schema are part of the GEO work. Bing's AI Performance report then shows which Copilot and Bing searches start citing your corrected pages.
Your next step
Book a free GEO call and see where you stand
Our GEO services aim for a simple result: your business named in more of your 10, 20 or 40 tracked questions each month. One client now gets “phone calls from people saying they found me on ChatGPT”. The first step is a free 30 minute call, where we show you how AI tools describe you today.
No charge and no obligation. You keep the findings either way.

Why Now
The opportunity is already taking shape
Here is the forward-looking part, with its caveat attached. AI tools are already answering “who should I use?” questions in your niche every day , and most of your competitors have done nothing about it. The businesses building clear signals now are the ones these answers are more likely to keep naming as usage grows.
Early does not mean guaranteed, and anyone claiming otherwise is guessing. But the gap between acting now and acting in two years is real, and it compounds.
